In recent years, automobile lightweight, wind power parity and electronic devices have brought new growth to the demand for glass fiber. From 2011 to 2021, China's glass fiber output showed a fluctuating growth trend. In 2021, China's glass fiber output was 6.24 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%.

Fiberglass is an inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. There are many kinds of fiberglass. Its advantages are good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength, but its disadvantages are brittle and poor wear resistance. The glass fiber production process mainly includes crucible drawing method and tank furnace drawing method. Crucible drawing method has many disadvantages, such as high energy consumption, unstable forming process and low labor productivity. At present, it has been eliminated by large manufacturers. The tank furnace wire drawing method is to melt pyrophyllite and other raw materials into glass solution in the furnace, remove bubbles, and then transport them to the porous leak plate through the passage, and draw them into glass fiber precursor at high speed. This process is simple, energy-saving, stable, efficient and high-yield, and has become the mainstream production process in the world.

From the perspective of market production structure, China's glass fiber yarn output consists of 93% tank kiln yarn and 7% crucible yarn. In 2021, China's pool kiln yarn output was 5.8 million tons, and the crucible yarn output was 439000 tons.
In 2021, the overall profit level of China's glass fiber industry continued to rise. On the one hand, it was related to the strong growth momentum of the downstream wind power, electronic appliances, infrastructure and other major sub markets and export market demand, and on the other hand, it was also due to the control of the total capacity supply of the glass fiber and product industry itself. According to the data of China Glass Fiber Industry Association, in 2021, the main business income of the whole industry of glass fiber and products (excluding glass fiber reinforced composite products) reached 124.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.4%; The total profit increased by 95.5% year-on-year to 23.14 billion yuan.
